I was asked to design a wall menu for Jingu House in the spring of 2018.
The brief was simple – to replace the temporary chalkboard menus with a professional, more permanent sign.
As this venue serves Japanese food, I tried to incorporate the neatness & simplicity from the aesthetics of Japan. Initially, this caused my text to be very small (I am SUCH a big fan of blank / white space) and much revisions were needed for readability’s sake. It was definitely a lesson in balancing practicality with intended design & branding.
